The state's Route 4 project in Woodstock Village is in its final days and is projected to finish this month — nearly two months ahead of the original completion time. The paving aspect of the project was completed weeks ago.

Next week, ongoing work continues between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Crews will continue paving drive aprons and installing signage and pavement markings throughout the project area, according to a state update. A crew will be installing shoulder aggregate material where needed, and site cleanup will begin towards the end of the week.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and alternate one-way traffic controlled by flaggers on Route 4, 12 and 106 in the village limits.

Vermont's Gov. Scott named to national council

Vermont Governor Phil Scott has been appointed to the President’s Council of Governors for a two-year term, the White House announced Thursday.

The bipartisan council was established by the National Defense Authorization Act of 2008 and implemented in 2010. The group of 10 governors works with federal officials to address issues relating to national security, homeland defense, disaster preparedness, response and recovery, and the National Guard.

In a statement, Scott thanked President Joe Biden for the appointment and pledged to bring an open-minded approach of listening to all views.

“President Biden has frequently noted that good government requires listening to and learning from all perspectives, considering all ideas, seeking consensus wherever possible and compromising when necessary to move America forward," Scott said. "Nowhere is this approach more important than when it comes to matters of national security or disaster preparedness, response and recovery."

Scott is one of nine governors newly named to the council. They join Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, whose term on the council expires in 2022.

In addition to Scott and Lee, the President’s Council of Governors includes:

  • Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Co-Chair

  • Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Co-Chair

  • Delaware Governor John Carney

  • Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards

  • Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer

  • Oregon Governor Kate Brown

  • Utah Governor Spencer Cox

  • Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon
