Hope

Some things are inevitable, whatever challenges the world faces. Spring, for one. Flowers are starting to bloom, robins are out, afternoon walks are happening. All these things bring their promise of hope, in a world that could really use it.

That hope grows a little more, with everything that reminds us we’re still here, supported by each other. The simple things in life now carry a huge impact: a phone call to check on a neighbor, a live song performed on Facebook, even just a smile and a wave from afar. They keep us moving ahead, buoyed by the trust that we are part of a greater good, and not held captive by fear of the unknown.

Meanwhile, over and above the cycle of spring, great change is happening. People are connecting with each other more consciously than they have in years - certainly more so, and on a larger scale, than they ever have during the internet age. We’re now keenly aware of each other’s needs. In the future, we may hear about stories of good deeds more often, like an NBC report about a newspaper delivery driver who bought groceries for customers in need.

The effect of this heightened consciousness? We’re seeing how much we care, and, though it may be at a distance, we’re there for each other when it matters most. And just maybe, we’re learning that it always matters.
