Outstanding artwork is a long-held Vermont tradition, and every year Billings Farm & Museum celebrates some of the region’s greatest work when it comes to quilting.

This week, the organization announced the awards from its 35th Annual Quilt Exhibition, including the Juror’s Choice and Staff Choice Award. These are part of a dazzling array of quilts made in Windsor County, which are on display at Billings Farm & Museum through Aug. 22.

The Quilt Exhibition is a juried show, with each of the event’s three jurors selecting a quilt they thought most deserving of recognition.

Linda Diak of Chester was recognized for her quilt, “Berkeley”, by juror Marti DelNevo, and “Floral Bouquets”, made by Mary Jane Arvidson of Brownsville, was selected by juror Nola Forbes. Norma Ippolito of Chester was selected by juror Froncie Quinn for her quilt, “Confetti Carnival”, which also received the Billings Farm & Museum Staff Choice Award.

Visitors can view these and other works in the Quilt Exhibition, which is open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Aug. 22. There is a Challenge Quilt display crafted by the Heart of the Land Quilters’ Guild of Hartland, along with several historical quilts from the museum’s collection. Additionally, quilting demonstrations will allow people to see this art form in action, and they can also enjoy scavenger hunts for all ages. Through Aug. 19, Billings Farm & Museum features “Thursday Threads”, a weekly series featuring interactive fiber arts and textile-related demonstrations and crafts.

The quilts are also viewable online at the Virtual Quilt Exhibition, found at https://billingsfarm.org/quilt-exhibition/, also featuring in-depth conversations with jurors and close up views of all of the quilts.

Whether visiting onsite or online, guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite quilt to receive the People’s Choice Award. Online voting is now underway, and the People’s Choice will be announced on Aug. 13.
